i don't know about the thinkgeek one, but that tablet's readily available at my local bestbuy.

are there any other tablets i should consider? i don't want to spend more than $150 since all i want is a basic tablet, but am willing to spend that if the product can justify it.

try the academic superstore. I got my 12x9 for 119 bucks. they carry many brands and at good pricing. They also price match. :D

I have an adesso cyber tablet 12000 . My previous one was a waycom and i didn't much like it.

I don't know much about them, but when I was researching the one I got (5x7 Wacom), everything I read said stay with Wacom. It is nice to use, but only if you are doing lots of graphics, otherwise it just sits there.

i use a wacom 6x8 intuos ( yes the OLD ones that use the serial port) if you can however try to get as many pressure levels as you can, the intuous and intuous 2 series offer 1024 levels of pressure which can mean alot for at work, i also had the 4x5 intuos and the 4x5 grapphire the graphire was only 512 levels of pressure, and also a 4x5 work area is often too small, my 6 x 8 area is a little too small but i only paid like $30 for it when my otherone died.

like many you can get mices and such for the pads, wacom offer alot of add ons and such, i have 2 pens that i use one of them is converted to use normal pencil grapphite so i can see what i draw because i draw better in paper... but all the peripherals have their own settings remembered.

i want a 12 x 9 if i can but they are still really expensive right now even for an older model.

A bit of comparison between Wacom Graphire and Intuos tablets.
