High Ping and Slow Choppy Motion

I put a new hardrive and reinstalled the game. Now in different areas of different maps I get slow choppy movement and high ping. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game with the same result.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

How many RPM is the HD? If it's like 5400 or something (dunno what the high end spec is ATM) then u need to get a dif one : P

As far as ping is concerned... your HDD shouldnt have anything to do with your ping, that is network related..
The slow choppy motion may tho...

What is the rest of your system?

If you have Anti-virus software, make sure it's not scanning the CSS directories in real-time.

You could try this... How much ram do you have? 1g? 512m?

Put half that ram into your heapsize command line option.

Right Click Steam -> Play Games -> Right Click CS:S -> Properties -> Launch Options

In that box, type: -heapsize ###000

Replace ### w/ half your ram, but no more than half.

So if you have 1024mb ram (a gig), put
-heapsize 512000

512mb ram?
-heapsize 256000

Default heapsize is 64000 (64mb of ram) Could help, sure did for me.
