Just ordered a P4 2.8Ghz Northwood CPU for my computer replacing the current P4 1.7Ghz. I'm slapping a Zalman 7000 cooler on top of it. Should be able to OC to 3.3Ghz without too much problem.

I have an Abit TH7-II MB from years ago. So this is the fastest Northwood CPU that my MB can handle. I gotta flash the BIOS sometime soon so it'll recognize the Northwood core.

Can't wait to install it. BF2 is going to be sweet!

awesome. those zalman HSFs rock. i use 2 of em in two machines. did you get the al-cu? the full copper one is alarmingly overweight.

will you be lapping the heatsink? its a pain in the arse.

I got a zalman. The thing is huge. Quiet too. I never see my cpu go over 45C even at full load.

good luck with your new chip.

Yup. I got the al-cu one. I won't be lapping it.

Can't wait to get the proc and the hsf. $200 will keep my machine alive for another year!
