Just watched the prequel to this movie, "Night Watch" as Vash suggested. Man, it is ****ing weird.. but pretty cool. Hopefully "Day Watch" won't be as cluttered and more coherent. Overall though, I suggest watchin it ;)

Night Watch and Day Watch are basically from the same book. It's a Russian made movie based on a Russian author's gothic sci-fi. I read a little bit of the first book and it seems to be rather good. I remember seeing trailers for Night Watch and I've been attempting to find a copy ***Edit by Drayu (Find a copy in stores or wait for the release)***

A few things noticed in the trailer: Whatever is roaring is coming from the city. The explosion happens within the city and then the Statue of Liberty head comes flying in. So something out of the ground? Some kind of huge ritual done by someone to summon a demon gone wrong? Perhaps it is an Elder of some sort out of Lovecraft. Or one of the angry gods like Ethan Haas says. It's all hard to say. Whatever it is it's huge. I'm quite interested in this movie. It's a neat mystery.

To be honest, I think the animations for this movie are really poorly done, especially the facial animations. If they used motion capture for ANY of it, including body movements, their equipment is either shit, or just broken.. or the transfer to computer wasn't done properly.

A New movie coming out directed by Tim Burton featuring the unique animated world of Shane Ackner.


In their first foray into animated movie, Focus Features will back the Shane Acker-directed 9. Tim Burton will produce.

Based on Acker's short film of the same name, the surreal fantasy takes place in a parallel world where humanity is threatened. Acker describes the movie as having a "stylized quality" that makes footage look like stop-motion animation.

Pamela Pettler (who wrote Tim Burton's Corpse Bride) has been brought on board to write the 9 screenplay.

Acker's 9 short was recently honored with the animated film laurel at Comic-Con. It is eligible for a 2005 Oscar nomination after also winning gold at the Student Academy Awards.

Damn I remembered when this Marine died a couple years ago. It was pretty big news around here because Dubois, WY (where he was from) is only about an hour from where I grew up. Another sad aspect to it is that his dad was making the statue for our town's Veteran's Memorial (Lander, WY) and he used his son as the model for it. This is a movie that came out in early 2011. It's called Sinners & Saints. It's a hardcore action-packed cop movie. Check it out if you guys have a chance! The shoot-outs are like the ones in Heat, but more of them. Highly recommended!!

me too! I have almost all the DVDs of the CGI series (except the last one). I hated it that it just ended as the bugs invaded earth. But IIRC, the production team had budget issues and had to end abruptly.
