For those of use lucky ebough to be able to use dx10, i found a demo we can try it out in. Early user reviews says it blows the 360 out of the water if you have the system for it. There is also a demo for dx9 if you are just interested in the game :D

kern, go here http://www.dll-files.com/

find the dll thats giving you the trouble and dl it and put it in the game directory

@filthy

Those screenshots for all the dx10 games, as amazing as they are, dont do it justice. This demo is absolutely breathtaking and it runs without a hitch. No fps drop at all for me. AND this is a DEMO

...its a demo

@kern

I couldnt run my shadows at max, for some reason, had to use medium, but with everything else on high, mine ran great. Let me know what you think

yeah same here with the shadows with out those i averaged like 60+ fps if i turned shadows on high it would drop to 20 and under.

And the incredibly resource-full shadows are somewhat common. Fear is a good example, putting shadows on with high settings used to drop my FPS from 60 (no shadows) to 30fps.
Low detail shadow settings look good enough though, and if it smooths it out enough it'll be worth the small loss in eye-candy:thumbsup:

how about "its a game that exists in a world where the majority of resolutions are made for standard monitors". Just because it doesn't cater to widescreen, doesn't mean that there are only crappy resolution choices, from what I see all standard native resolutions are there. From what I can tell, considering most demos restrict you to much lower resolutuions, this demo was put together well. My comment saying "its a demo", was more in response to your "is there a fix comment". In most cases, all a 'fix' is is just stretching it to your screen. Im sorry, sir, but widescreen just isn't supported by a lot of developers for some reason (perhaps we can thank EA for setting that precedent).

Anyway, can anyone post some screenies from the dx9 version of the demo, and we'll get some dx10 ones up here. It would be nice to compare.

actually, i don't know why LP would not support 16:9/16:10 resolutions considering it's original design was created for wide screen formatted tv and letterbox.

nvidia just released some new betas for this game that work pretty good. I heard this demo wasnt optimized for ati, but im sure that will change when the retail version is released

But do you see all the realy weird choices too? Never seen a monitor with those resolutions, and they use those instead of widescreen. True fixes are just stetches and crops but some games handle the ratio fix rather well, Fear and BF2 do.

Sense my resolution isn't up yet, hopefully they add it for the retail game, and there doesn't seem to be any fixes so I try windowed mode. No matter what method I used the game would always crash and get an error report...

I'll re-install it and try again, looked decent though when I played with the standard resolution.

Start posting your pictures guys, I've heard that there is indeed a fair image quality bump with the 8800 in DX10, let's see it now.

Re-installing made windowed mode work.
Here's 2 pictures in DX9.

i am willing to bet that there will be an official widescreen rez option when the retail is released.

On another note, I just want to add that the hive looks stunning, ill post some pics when i get around to it, probably tomorrow

And oh yes it did, looked awsome but in the beggining of it the massive amounts of bees lagged me a good bit. You get any noticable slow downs in there? Great graphics + great physics = destined lag... If you've played COD2 you know what I meen, some scenes there's almost no avoiding it. Though your higher-end computers but not have droped much at all.

I'm realy liking the claw/grapple whatever they call it in this game. Fun to shoot the fat rock guys and flip off of them.

I think the problem is that its still not a true dx10 game it was made based on the xbox 360 and thats still just an advanced version of dx9 if i understand right. So this game as dx10 demo i think is just optimized a little to run using dx10 and still not getting all the benifits of being made for dx10.

I get about a second of slowdown in the hive when about 8 of those damn things attack and i fight them with a shotgun. When three of them blow up into gibs, it will slow me a little

wow, those numbers are screwed up for the gts though. Everything maxed on my pc, the lowest I drop is 17, my max is around 45, and I average around 32. Interestingly enough, their pc looks a lot better than mine.
