I figured I would do a little Bob Ross how to for anyone who cares. I would post more art frequently but I am working on a book for Image right now and I'm not allowed to show anything from it.
This is a poor man's "how to" guide
Step 1. "Layouts"
Here I figure out the pose and get the anatomy right ( or as right as I can ) I also take this time to work out backgrounds and perspective issues. This is all done on a 5X7 paper. Much smaller than it appears

Step 2, "Shadows and Light"
I enlarge the layout 180% so that I can lightbox it on to a 11X17 bristol board for the final. I always photocopy a couple extra sheets so that I can use it to do a loose shading job on it to decide where I want my light sources to come from.

"Final Pencils"
final pencils are pretty much just detailing at this point and the most fun part for me. I dont make many changes from my layouts to the final pic.

the piece is usually passed on to the inker and from there a colorist, since I did this one for fun though, it won't get that treatment, so I'll keep it and sell it at a convention later
