Zilong has his "guide" to the shottie... that's all well and good, but when I have almost 300 more kills with the p90 than he does with the shottie, I think it's only fair I get my own topic. :P
1. The p90 is only for people with the guts/balls (depending on gender, hopefully) to rush suicidally or run toward your intended target. This ain't no pussy's gun. ;)
2. Theoretically, with 50 rounds you shouldn't need to aim your shots. Pray to the BS god daily, and one of those 50 rounds will almost always smite your enemy in the head and/or chest despite all odds.
--- I should note that, with enough practice, you will learn to actually aim this gun, though it is definitely difficult to achieve... now 3 bullets, rather than 50, will actually kill people for me :)
3. You must not fire this weapon in short bursts. The bullets are weak. You were given 50 for a reason.
4. Do not be afraid to charge around corners you KNOW have enemies, aiming where enemies usually hide. I have killed 8 Ts within 10 seconds on Prodigy rushing down the long hall and running around the corner when no one else would.
5. Do be afraid of maps like port, where snipers - whom are always without testicles - will not face you hand to hand. Either carry a deagle with you, or be prepared to use your teammates as cover while you get closer.
6. Teammates are teammates only in name - in nature, they are actually walking shields which will allow you to get closer to the enemy. Use them, for even in death they will momentarily provide you cover before falling to the ground.
7. When FF was on, you had to be careful about running around corners and firing. With FF off, fear TKing no more! Every corner can hold a possible enemy... start firing a second before turning - but don't fire any sooner, or the enemy may actually have time to run.
8. If you get flashed and know you're near cover, go for cover (I have learned this perfectly).I will take a line from the comedic genius Jon Stewart in describing this - "Run in blind terror, run without knowing where you're going, run as fast and as aimlessly as you can, but ohhh, for god sakes, run you magnificent bastards". If you're not near cover, you're screwed anyway, so run forward and hold down your trigger. If the BS is with you, you will kill someone.
I'll add more if I think about it, but we'll end this with the following summary... use the p90 if:
You're not a pussy.
You like to rush.
You don't care about all that fancing aiming.
You prefer quantity of bullets over quality of kills (my kills usually involve 5-6 bullets and a little over 100 damage), meaning when I'm done the body looks like someone hacked it up with a cleaver rather than shot it.
No, it's (by far) not the best weapon, it won't get you any awards, but god damn... it's fun. :D
