what the heck is going on with AMDs prices?

There am2s are dropping in price like crazy. I bought a 3800+ for around 100 bucks two weeks ago after they had a price drop and they dropped again. around 90 bucks for a 65w chip. when I started looking at them about 2 mounts ago the where over $125 I think you would have to be kind of dumb not to buy a AM2 chip over a Intel chip for the price. where talking over half the price for something thats a wee bit slower. show me a Intel chip thats has 2 cores for under a 100 bucks. hell there FX-62 was over 500 bucks not to long ago.

Did AMD come out with something new thats dropping the price on all the chips? or dose it have something to do with intel having faster chips?
(dont tell me that AMD has slow chips must i remind you that for many many years AMD was ALOT faster and cheaper than Intel. and i'm sure they will be faster again.)

AMD has been dropping them to stay competitive with Intel. They have been trying to match there faster chips up more competitively and at the same price point with Intel's chips. Hence, they have had to drop the price on them.

E6300 is $180.00 and X2 4200 is $100.00... Not to mention Conroe motherboards are still a lot pricier...

AM2 is way better for value.

Lowering prices for processors has been in the works for a while.
AMD knows it can not keep up with Intel's selling points with inferior CPUs.
Hence you will be able to get good AMD CPUs for a fraction of their price because they aren't as good as the Intel Core 2 Duos out there.

But, the core 2's have 2mb or 4mb caches and the am2's posted here only have 1mb cache:dunno:

the higher up versions of the AM2 cores have 2mb L2(as well as half the original 939 dual cores :P)
