Lol I thought burning DVDs was going to be simple. So far it's been long and stressful. I started be downloading this anime I watch Bleach in its episode batches so i could share it with my friends. Its up to ep 33 but I delete it every i watch it every time so i dled 1-10, 11-20, and now the rest are so singles. too bad theres not another batch :(. anyways..

It takes 15-20 minutes to encode every episode from avi to mpg which is fine. I can que as many episodes as i want to encode..but thats still a long time. then it takes about 20-25 minutes for each dvd to be burned and my dvds can hold 6 episodes each.

The first time the burn like froze in the middle too and it wont let me write over the disc. its frustrating. >.<

Anyone else ever think burning dvds is a pain?

I think burning DVDs is a pain! I have to turn off all my extra processes and programs otherwise the DVD burn will stop in the middle giving me another drink coaster.

Crap, I shoulda took lessons from my friend at OU then. He was burning dvd's while playing cs:s and downloading other stuff from his computer at the same time. He had stock loads of dvd's, he kept preaching their glories. Personally, I've never really had the need for'em, only to use'em as back ups. But anyway he made it look easy. I'll have to hit'em up some time.

Play CS while burning dvd's..not possible both take up too much resourses..I can burn dvd's and browse the internet or work in photoshop but not play cs ..but hey maybe I shouldn't say its impossible, I've seen fast comps that can handle a heavy load....

Burning DVDs isn't too much of pain for me. The only annoyance is the amount of time it takes.

As we speak, I'm converting my Aeon Flux VHS tapes to DVD :yaya:

TNT - Thanks for the pointer to DVD Shrink! That program rocks! I'll bet I can use that program to rip my DVDs onto a format that is compatible to load into my PSP so I can watch on-the-go.

Thanks again bud!

DVD Shrink will rip you just about anything most of the time. If you have problems you can try DVD Decrypter as a backup:

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvddec.htm

Basically, when youre done ripping you will have two folders: AUDIO and VIDEO. Using a program like Nero, you would "Burn DVD files", right click on the VIDEO folder in the left pane, and "Add Files" from your destination VIDEO folder only. I have no idea what the AUDIO folders are about, but they are not needed when you backup a DVD.

There is a new copy-protection format out there that is showing up on more and more DVDs that is tripping up DVD Shrink and Decrypter that requires additional tools to circumvent. Ive used AnyDVD successfully. There are others.

The doom9 forums should give you just about any info you need.

One of the best things about Shrink is the re-author button. You can strip the DVD of all trailers, ads, FBI warnings, and menus so that all you have is the unadulterated movie. It also helps prevent unneccessary compression.

I found the Re-author very very useful!

DVD Decrypter just got beaten down by a very powerful company (Sony?), the site has been taken down, and the creator has received a forever cease-and-desist letter for anything decrypting. The latest build (3.5.4.0) is still up on Doom9, you might want to get it before it is removed (from all mirror sites also).
