vBF2?

So you guys wanted the vBF2 back. We brought it back. It's sitting empty. I'll tell you now that it won't last very long if this is the trend.

It will probably take a while for the general BF community to find it again. People get used to playing other places, so if it's not in their favorites anymore they'll have to rediscover it.

Of course, it's your money so it's your call. Just have to decide if it's worth it to you to rebuild the vanilla community.

Been playing quite a bit! It seems to empty out at night over time however and someone needs to start it every morning :S

But my guys wanted IO this morning.

Our own server is only populated from 6pm to 2 am.
Its getting better tho.

I like the IO server better but in the am if i see the vbf2 needs help i try to get it going. Then after 1 or 2 rounds i go play on the IO server.

I just kept seeing about 5 threads per week that had a "regular" pop in and say something to the effect of, "All the regulars have left until you bring back teh VBF2s' omgZ!!!!ONEone!" and now that the server is back it's apparently sitting empty quite a bit.

well, its going now, had fun in the J-10 and chopper :P

but my damn connection problems are still killing me. I had 9 deaths, 6 of them where from havind lag ending up upside down and crashing...

Erm.... I say it is empty no more than half the time. Maybe a third of the time on average. A lot of regs have showed up over the last week, that is for sure!

Multiplex isnt an avid vBF2 player anyway. He is a staunch supporter of IO as am I.

But from time to time I do hop on vBF2 to get it populated and play a few rounds there.

When I play on VanillerBF2, the map rotation is never considered. Until now. Full or close to full server, any map, no problem.
But when it's half full or less, and the chopper wh0res control the gameplay, it's work trying to keep them grounded. If there's aircraft available, I can deal with them. If not, eryx and smaws are effective. Either way, I tend to spend the entire round seeking vengeance, not flags. I know that's not teamwork, but I refuse to let people rack up points just because they're in a position to get away with it.
On a similar note, I give the heli-pilots credit, not the gunners racking up the kills. My 8-yr old nephew can pull that off, and he has. Back when he was 6. :thumbsup:
If the server is full, or at least 50 player level, it rocks until it crashes and doesn't fill back up. Then we're back to (see above). Don't get me wrong. I like the vanilla server. But I always check the player level and map, look for certain players and check their score. :twofinger: Nope, not this round.

It seems like when there's a fair bit of people on the regular vs. pubber ratio is very high...


Just seems like it needs a bit more time for everyone to find it as said before, but if it continues to struggle for weeks to come (or however long you give it) then I won't be to bothered if it's dropped again... Atleast you guys tried:thumbsup:

What I do like about playing on the vBF2 server is the fact that the people who play on it actually know what they're doing most of the time. Before, people who whored with armor could rule a map. Now I'm seeing a lot more people making it a priority to go AT and take out tanks, APC's, and even choppers.

Choppers are still freaking deadly though.. and the J-10's are still invisible to anti-air most of the time.

Personally, I'm enjoying playing it again.

That`s why i started playing on a 24\7 Karkand server and why i enjoy the IO server so much. The AA should be deadly to the choppers and jets not the other way around.

I think part of the problem is some of the maps. dont know what to do about it cause if you take them off people will bitch.

I see one thing that was done that helps that. setting a time limit. Thats a A++++++ move! no map should take more that 15 min (30 mins before new map loads) I think that this will help things. now we have to go to the hole tking thing. How much TKing did u see on IO sever? no much execpt by nades. now u have these fruits that say "hey mother trucker that choppers mine" and will tk for it. the 1 and only watch list thead is going to be the biggest one on WIH web site.

I used to play it back before IO was a server side option. I got tired of waiting for vehicles, getting TK'd for vehicles, and getting spammed/whored/camped/gayed by vehicles. My IO scores and my VBF2 scores are pretty much the same so that doesn't influence my decision to play, only the stuff I really just hate about vehicles.

IO was a godsend and I knew it from the beginning when I tried it out in beta. It's the only thing I play whenever I play BF2, although I haven't played much BF2 at all lately because I haven't burnt myself out on Vanguard.
