ok here is the story:
my uncle who plays bf2 with me sometimes, was having some problems with the pc. by problems i mean slow conn, pc freezing etc. he called me one day saying that the pc would not turn on. he took it to best buy, and they said the pc was fine nothing wrong with it. when he got it back after 2 weeks pc seemed to be fine, but indeed was slow for everything. i told my uncle that maybe he had virus or spyware, so he got an antivirus.

after that, he told me that whenever he tried to play bf2, would be lagging and the soldier would not run, or would do things like run walk or turn left without touching the keyboard. i found that funny. i went to his house to see the problem and yes, in fact, when i tried to play i could not run, sometimes it got stuck to fire, would keep walking even tho i wasnt pressing the "w" key.

i checked for the controls on the game, and they seemed to be fine, but i noticed that under "sprint" it said left shift... i reset it, went back to the game, and the weird part was that i had to press the shift key to run!! i really didnt know what was happening.

after a while thinking about the problem, i decided to play in single player to see if it was the same. after trying 2 rounds, for no reason went back to normal. i told him to try it now online. gameplay seemed to be ok but still warping, and doing thinks without pressing any key. all this was 2 days ago.

last nite, i went to his house again, this time i had to solve the problem. i told him that we could re-install the game and see that maybe it will fix the problem but it was better to restore the pc since the game was not the only problem. so i did. now he plays like he did when he 1st got the game, no problems, no weird soldier stuff like running without pressing "w".

i came back home and played a bit and found out i was having the laggy game only, like he did, but no weird stuff. WiH server was laggy for me and him, we changed servers and was the same...

now my question is: why would the 2 of us be warping and lagging on same servers? could it be down to connection? while playing him and me always get the message "connection problems" for about 1-2 secs and we cant really play like that... is there a new patch?? any ideas guys?? please some info/help would be great!!

oh! before i forget, when i restored his pc, and then installed the games, i didnt have to dl the 1.41 patch to play on servers... that was weird.

im not an expert but i do know that sometimes pc's that are not powerfull enought to run a game, even if you can play online with all ur settings down, if you go and play single player, u will get this horrible lag like stop and play!
i dont know if its any help but thats the first thing that come to my mind!

It's possible the route from your ISP to the server in Dallas is the culprit. Run a traceroute to the server's IP address and see if there's any hop in between with high pings.

You can try and use either of these applications to see if you have a program using bandwidth.

how does one do that?

Open up the command prompt window.

Start-->Run-->Type in 'cmd'

In the command window type 'tracert' followed by the IP address. Take a look at all the network hops and see if any of them have a really high ping.

Ketito,

I had some lagginess problems also.

What I did was uninstall any antivirus or spyware programs and uninstall any unused games/programs.

Then defrag.

Hope it helps.

I also use this to shutdown any unwanted running programs.

Here is a screen shot of pingplotter.com
It makes the trace route very visual for the non technically inclined.

i did the cmd run on the pc but all i get is stars 30 times... thats all. i dont see any pings, and im thinking that the antivirus could be a reason, i ran a connection test, and seems to be fine, surfing internet its fine only when playing when the ping goes 400-500's.

you could try turning off antivirus and firewall.
