Im sorry but george Lucas absoluelty screwed your generation. I think Im speaking for the above 30 crowd here when I say that, but there is no way you capteured the same magic we did back in the 70'. Especially in regards to dialouge, while ours is still cheese, at least its cheddar. Here, let me make you cringe.

we got:

"The circle is now complete. The student has become the Master." (cool!)

you guys got:

"Helllllllloooooooo Boyos! ( not cool)

See? Our second movie we got:

"I love you."
"I know." (cool!)

you got:

Anakin riding around on a bloated water buffalo. (not cool)

in defense for the 3'd movie you got:

a smoking 9/10ths dead anakin carcass (cool!)

we got:

the fucking ewoks. nuff said.

There you have it we win 2 to 1. However, if Lando had been drinking and driving the Millenium Falcon ( colt .45) at the end of Jedi we would of won that too.

i don't know... i think for the most part i disagree with you. you have to keep it in perspective, it's Star Wars and we love it for multiple reasons: the special effects (then and now), the cheesy acting, the story, the imagination and fantasy, but mostly the ability for it to remove us from our drab existence and let us escape for a while.

those of us who grew up with the first three (4/5/6) have the story line and movies set so high on a pedestal that nothing can touch them... even the second three (1/2/3)... which is unfair. bottom line is that this is GL's story, it's his fantasy, his creation, his gift to us, and it's for him to tell the way he wants to. we can all agree to disagree on the various aspects of the movies we like and don't, but personally i'm tired of the whole "ours is better than yours", "the ewoks suxor", "the effects now ruin the old movies", and "george ruined the story" rants.

man, no more Star Wars movies...
the trilogy is over... long live the trilogy.

I remember cheering out loud in the theatre when the death star blew up.

The pure good vs. evil battle of the original hasn't been matched in any of the sequels.

I remember watching "Return of the Jedi" when I was younger. I've watch the Original Trilogy and rather enjoyed it. Now the first two movies, (1 + 2), I hated with a passioned that I didn't realize I had. I'm still debating on going to see the 3rd, but maybe I will now.

The main problem that I see Is First Love Syndrome....... nothing will ever replace it........ All 6 of them are a ok in my book.................. Ofocurse some are better than others...... My personel favorite is episode 4 .......... Stood in line with my Dad for 2 hours in the late 70s to see it & we were 2 spots from the ticket seller & they sold out....... Dad & I went to an old run down theatre & watched it there ( theatre has been gone for 20 years ) :D

Ah, touche my friend! Though your generation of Star Wars may have had some better things in it...

You had Chewie instead of Jaja Binks..

Anakin was 100% hotter than Luke EVER was. Luke was just plain ugly. So was Princess Leah. Padme was hot too. Padma was way cooler than Leah who was a whiney little bastard..

Take Luke whining for example "But I want to go to the Hagie station with my friends!" Waah waah. Luke also got stuck with old ben kenobi when our generation got young OBI WAN Kenobi (also hot).

And we got to see yoda flipping around like a maniac in TWO of our movies when yoda was some freaky hermit who lived in the woods and was amazed by a flash light in yours!!

AND EWOKS ARE JUST DAMN SCARY! They are like little furbies! Ugh! No ewoks please. thank god no ewoks were in 1, 2, and 3!!

Though I will say I love ALL the Star Wars movies and the all rule but still!!! i'd say they are the same except we got better graphics in our generation.

ok i love them all except for number 1 it was just ok....... i love yoda and he kicked ass in 2 and 3 and the thing that made the original cool to me is because my parents liked it and the graphics werent great but you could tell that they were cutting edge back in the day(im 21 by the way). the graphics now are far better but it kinda takes away from the whole movie, because i remember watching mark hamill do all his flips and stuff and thinking damn thats pretty good, now everything is computer generated and crap.

luke vs anakin>>> anakin wins for better acting but luke wins a point for being good. but i love darth vader so i got to give it to anakin.

Leah vs padme>>>>> leah all the way cause i used to think she was really hot plus shes pretty bad ass in the movies to an extent( portmans hot too.)

new yoda vs old yoda>>>>> advantage has to go to the new yoda cause he kicks ass plus hes got alot of connections...i mean he knows coach carter..lol

new trilogy vs old trilogy>>>>>>>split decision for all the obvious reasons........

in closing i have to say DARTH VADER IS THE RULER OF ALL THINGS

I'm 16, and I still saw and loved the original 3 star wars, actually the only three TRUE starwars movies. I hate how these new movies have turned out, they actually butcher the star wars name.

I just saw Episode 3, I thought it was pretty cool. But some of that dialogue was horrible.

Anakin: "Love can't save you. Only my new powers can do that."

Obi-Wan: "The Sith are evil!"
Anakin: "From my point of view, the Jedis are evil!"

I don't really think line is too corny that Anakin said because from his logic he couldnt save his mother even though he loved her and if he couldnt save his mother then he had no reason to believe his love could save Padme. So he assumed the only way to save her was through the power to substain life.

I missed out on being able to see 4,5,6 in the movie theatre (i wish they would put it out again for us younger pple)
besides that, the new ones have the main problem with 1,2 (havn't seen 3 yet) is the dialog suxed. And there was no great plot or fighing or anything to discract us from it. Plus, half the time nothing happened in it, they just did... i don't even remember. Also, in the new ones, there is no real good and bad, like in 1 and most of 2, there is no caracter (like Dearth Vader) that is undesputable bad and a big caracter (common, who actually remembers the trade federation pple and the sith lord appeared like 2 times).
and on defence of the ewoks, i thought it was cool how the killed all the storm troopers and stuff, of course when i first saw that movie i was like 7 so maybe that had somthng to do with it, if i saw it now, i'd probably be like WTH are these things?

What happen was toys and the movie aftermarket.

As marketing tool, he saw (and this is so obvious to those of use who lived through movies with no toys but I'll say it anyways) the markets outside the theatre, and from then on it was aimed not only at the scifi group that tyhought it was a great story, but at the toy sellers, that could put out a wookie doll and and make a buck.

The movies stretches automatically play into a video game round and I'm getting tired of seeing someone hanging by one arm 9 kajilliojn feet above obliviojn feet above the gfround. What has it been now? Four episodes with that happening?

Ok, so the guy gets rich capitalizing on a cult group. Fine with me. But Imao< The series is an also ran, totally commercialize in every aspect. Not a crime, but too predictable and not in keeping with how good the story could have been.

Prime example. Whatevr episode, they ran that race, the one that the little kid had a racer and I saw on TC the other night. That race was like a 3rd of the movie. I turned it off not only the onther night, but the first time I watch ed it.

That was all so they could make a video game. Totally commercial and totally boring. I hated that movie. Maybe hate is too strong, but it was not impressive.

I admire his (GL) money making prowess, and I love the special effects, but the series has gone downhill, since the invent of movie toy and video games and the fallout of having to make the storyline feed those two beats.

I say boo.
