Problem with Gun Game

Why is it that whether I join mid-game or while people are already on level 25, I always begin with an AWP?

Thats not a problem...its the way the game works...you have to work your way up. Typically you will just have to play out the rest of that game until someone wins it and start on the same level as everyone else to have a chance to win. Sucks...but you can just piss people off by knifing them and stealing their levels until the next game starts :)

I know what Winter means and I think I know the answer. For some players, when you join in the middle of a game it will upgrade you to either the worst weapon being used or an average of the weapons being used (i'm not sure which). It used to do that to me as well, but then about a month ago it stopped and now I always start on AWP.

I think it depends on either the number of wins you have or more likely whether you are in the top10 or so. It looks like all of the higher ranked players start on AWP whenever they join.

Damnit. In fairness, I have joined while there were players on the nade level, blew through every gun from the AWP down, and won. But still... :thumbsdown:

Fozzy i finaly made it.
since were talking about problems with gg....
i lag on a few maps due to texture errors. ive tried to d/load the maps and reinstall them to no avail. any hints?

When you say texture errors do you mean you see errors in the console or you have some missing textures?

There are a couple of maps that I have missing textures for aswell.If its just the occasional small patch of texture missing I wouldnt worry as it shouldnt really cause you to lag.If there are large areas of textures missing then I'm not sure what the problem would be.

Do you have hl2 installed? Quite often mappers use textures from it and forget to include them in the bsp as they forget some cs players dont have that game.

In regards to textures, since the Steam downloader is a flawless piece of coded machinery, it sometimes does not download everything the first time, so occasionally you'll have to try and re-dl the map from the server multiple times in order to get it to work.
