Well me and tweakfreak just watched the new star wars. It was way better than the last two (nothing annoying at least) but it didnt really seem like a movie. If you were to watch it and watch none of the others you would be perplexed and lost.

It did do a nice job of tying everything together though and it was neat to see some of the uniforms and ships from episode 4.

The special effects were so amazing! (even if some of the physics in the opening scene were off.)

I would rate it a must see for anyone who has sat through the rest and a don't bother for everyone else!

GET UR FREAK ON! :mp5: :mp5: :mp5: :mp5:

Solo used to be an Imperial officer when he was younger. He felt bad for Chewie because the Wookies were enslaved by the Empire. He freed him, and that is how Chewbacca owed him a life debt. ( i will crawl back into my hole of loserness now).

I have to say...the dialogue between anakin and padme was much better than the last film, and it did live up to the pg-13 rating, dark, I was kinda disturbed at some of the scenes. And the fight between Obi-wan and Anakin was awesome, I could barely keep up. All in all, I thought it was one of Lucas' best. Two thumbs up

i have over 60 star wars novels and numerous comic books. if u live in a hole, i live in the bowels of the earth :D

and yes friends he is right.

plus its like 18 yrs between III and IV, so a lot can happen in that period of time, and Han is older than Luke and Leia, and Chewie is way older than Han (wookies live into like the 150-200ish yr range)

well, there is a trilogy about Han, which details his life after Corellia, more or less. if i remember, the Han/Chewie thing happens sometime within that trilogy. i think u can find it if u do a search at barnes and noble or someplace like that for The Han Solo Trilogy.

as far as for episodes 7/8/9, there aren't actually books called 7/8/9. i actually have no idea where they start and end, since i've read books from 3 months after the battle of endor to like 30 yrs ABY (after the battle of yavin). i think some research is required to find out exactly what episodes 7/8/9 detailed.

hope that helps.

Havn't seen it yet, I probably will this weekend, I loved the original 3 films, but these new "episodes" have been huge dissapointments to me time and time again, I just hope this last one redeems the series for me.

The three books by Timothy Zahn, "Heir to the Empire", "Dark Force Rising", and "The Last Command" deal with history right after Return of the Jedi... don't know if they're actually what was suppose to happen in 7/8/9 but they are good books and excellent reads.

just saw the movie twice today... thought it was great.

Just got back from seeing it for the second time. I thought it was freakin awesome, the light saber battles throughout the whole movie were just plain amazing and I think the dialogue and acting were a whole lot better then the other two prequels. All in all I think I might be going and seeing it a few more times before it leaves theaters.

Just came back from seeing it too! Excellent! Easily the best of the first 3 episodes. Will be catching it again soon. The fight between Anakin and Obi Wan is awesome!

I thought the dialog a little......off. BUT! It did not detract anything from the overall feel of the movie.

Overall the best of the 3 new movies.

DEFINATELY earned the PG-13 rating. I was very glad I listened to some of the early reviews, and opted not to take my 2 kiddos.

just saw it again for the 2nd time last nite, and i enjoyed it more than the first time.

lots of eye candy!
patently bad acting.
patently bad scripting.
patently bad alien accents. are they all from transylvania or what?
lots of one-liners and hokey Captain Obvious moments much like a bad kung-fu movie.

it was entertaining. it built on the GL legacy from when star wars was the hottest sh!t in sci-fi on the screen. portman had her moments, and yoda was damn cool for being a CG character.

ive seen all six of them on the big screen as well as the remixes prior to episode 1.

the empire strikes back > all

welcome to the franchise.

I think it was a pretty good movie. Definately the best of the first 3. I thought some of the crap was funny like the stock volcano footage used in the end or the fact that Anikin lived after having his legs and one arm chopped off AND after being engulfed in lava/flame. Seems like Lucas was pretty desperate to find some way to put him in a volcano and have him live (since Lucas said long ago that Darth Vader became the robotic man he is due to a volcano). Another thing that was retarded was that whole ending thing where Yoda was saying things like "Oh, there is some new way that somehow you can talk to your old master but we arn't going to really talk about it other than mention it so that in the later episodes when you see the ghostly figures of characters it will all make sense."

I hate to be a "hater" but I hated this movie. Here is my reasons:

1. Someone posted "easily the best of the 3." Ok, I agree with that. Ask yourself which is better Friday the 13th Part 4, 5, or 6? Answer, none they all sucked, just like this movie. But if i had to pick one, it would be Friday the 13th part 4.

2. Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Samuel Jackson were all seriously miscast. Everytime I saw Samuel L. Jackson on screen I did not say "that is Mace Windu on screen." MY mind said "that guy has a wallet that says Bad Mother Fucker on it."

3. Lucas is seriously challenged when it comes to real life realtionship issues. That carries obviosly over into the script. If you dont know how human nature works n real life, how the hell are you going to fake it in on the screen.

4. Yoda dyslexically talking doesnt making him any wiser, it just confuses the hell out of me. Watch Empire again, his lines arnt nearly as tangled. Isnt Alzaheimers supposed to kick in as you get older.

5. Kit Fisto died like a bitch. He did super human things in the cartoon. He cant take 1 swing from the emporer?? Bitch.

6. Dialogue. Here let me give you some fingers down the chalkboard moments from this trilogy:

"Mesa clumbsy."
"And Skywalker has moved into the lead! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!"
"Life is much easier when your fixing things."
"Its obvious we cannot resolve this battle with our knowledge of the Force but with our skills with a lightsaber." (Yoda reaches for lightsaber, I groan)
"I love you." "I love you more." ( I dont believe either of you)

7. I guess when you have billions of dollars you can make whatever movies you want. But hey, "I can take a shit in a box and mark guaranteed on it." This is one of the instances where I believe some type of studio intervention needed to take place to have people edit scripts, approve casting etc. It was going to make money either way. And that really is dis-heartning. Not one person stood up and said , "george this sucks."

8 . Anakin turning to the darkside was completely unconvincing. In a span of ten seconds he went from < "omg what have I done!" to " Ill do anything you say Master." .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..................................yah...sure...... ............

So there you go. Thats why I dont like the prequels. You can say "of course there not better then the origanols." The truth of the matter is, while the origanols were great movies, these 3 just flat out suck ass.

Return of the jedi was my favorite out of all of them. And I don't consider these "episodes" to be even part of the same universe, they are just fancy cartoons made to make big bucks.

My favorite was Empire Strikes Back. Holy cow, as a kid, I'd watch it, rewind, watch 'n repeat. That Hoth battle rox'd my sox. And then Bespin? <33 Boba snagged teh Han.

As for these three prequels, I liked them. You can't expect too much out of Lucas. He's a film maker first and foremost, storyteller as a side job. I really think it could have been the equivalent, or even greater, than Lord of the Rings was when it was first published.

Tolkien loved his characters, every one of them. Lucas just has "filler" characters to make the others look good, but what ends up happening is that these filler characters, such as Aayla Secura, Kit Fisto, 'n all that, end up getting "punked out" and the "good" characters end up lookin' kinda corny :(

Honestly, I don't think the Jedi elite, like the ones that were shown (I believe most of them sat on the council itself!) would have gotten killed so easily.

I thought it would have been cooler if Ki Adi Mundi, instead of trying to block so many lasers with his saber at such a close range and being the Jedi Master that he is, would have opted for a nice force push on the lot of them. There was a lot of debris, he could have hid, went under the bridge, did something that made him worthy of sitting on the council. Or yeah, let's say he does die. But maybe he draws his saber up like Ben did on the Death Star and fades away wjhen he's hit. The commandos would walk up, maybe one of them take of their helmet and shake his head in confusion. Or heck, if ya wanna go samurai about it, maybe he does it himself. He force pushes the commandos away, kneels in a solemn manner, and ignites the saber through himself and fades away. It wouldnt' be so much of a suicide as a tactic to be able to communicate to the other Jedi and warn them as a blue ghost -- but that couldn't work because Lucas is doing something else with that technique. (which is corny since qui gon didn't fade away)

Aayla Secura, I don't know much about her, but I know she has a nice fanbase, looked hardcore herself. With all that fungus growing around on the planet she was on, she could have easily did a force jump or what not.

Characters like Plo koon and that Allie girl, that was more believable. They were piloting aircraft and were obviously limited in their options for getting out of the situation.

And Kit Fisto, lol, I don't know much about him but he's my cousins fave Jedi. I think what should have happened is something like... He's working on his speeder or something and since he's an alien, when the emporer pops up on the holoproj to tell the troops to execute order 66, the commandos say something like "we'll get'em" or something and Kit Fisto's alien ears pick up on it -- in any event, I think it would have been cool if they came up to shoot him while he was working and the Fisto waves his hand and says something "This isn't necessary, let's head back to HQ" or something along those lines. The clone commander would repeat them, waving his hand to back off and shaking his head to his troops and they'd jog away. Kit would jump down on his speeder, camera angle from behind, see his dread locks go up, and then he's gone. It'd be totally believable since they're so docile from the cloners (read: weak minded). Then fisto hops on the speeder and gets away.

They're supposed to have a TV series, this would have saved a few of the fan favorites and allowed them to appear on the shows from time to time as Vader "helps the empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi"

Again... Lucas is a film maker, not necessarily a story-teller.
