So recently I've in a depressed state. You see my computer has always been a good computer, I've never had a game that forces me to push down a setting, or turn off the eye candy... untill now. Supreme commander is being a supreme pain in my ass, and I've had it! It's not that I like this game a whole log, its just that I can't stand to be beat! Unfortunatly being a broke bastard means I don't have the funs for a new motherboard, CPU, and graphics card, instead I have to find a cheap, viable alternative.

My motherboard and CPU are clearly outdated, my single core pentium 4 3.1Ghz is showing some age, however it is my video card that is really hurting my performance. Right now I have a Radeon 9800pro, and it's forcing me to play SupCOm on the lowest of the low settings, and if you've seen what that looks like, well it's horrible. I need a video card solution, so I've been looking into the X1950 pro AGP. This thing is packed with 512MB of ram, and a whole lot of numbers I don't understand! But if I want to install it, I'm going to need a new powersupply. A cheap powersupply would be my first option. The card requires atleast 450 watts, so what should I get, a 500 W? 600 W?

Also the card I'm looking at requires two "molex" connections. I don't know what those are, but supposably I need a powersupply with atleast one free molex connector. I also read something about needing atleast 30 amps on a 12V rail. I'm confused. Please enlighten me.

you already have 1 molex connector as the 9800 pro uses one, all they are are hard/cd drive power connectors.

get a good power supply because when you upgrade the rest of the machine you can continue to use the same unit, as for GFX cards i am an admitted nvidia fanboi these days, and would go for a 7800gs agp although io am sure the ATI one is fine too compared to what you have, any will be a big improvement
