Shutting down regular CSS server

We're taking this server offline due to low usage. In the past 30 days, there's only a few occasions when there's about 5-7 players on. When there's interest to play regular CSS again, we'll bring it back online. But for now, Gun Game is where it's at.

Is there any chance you would consider making it gungame deathmatch again? I just find regular gg very boring and uneventful. If its population you're concerned about I think its safe to say that making it dm will attract a lot more players.

I'm open to GGDM but frankly, I don't want to make the admins deal with the hackers on there and have to listen to people complain about hackers on GGDM.

I totally agree with Aero, I like you can switch between the two. But out of both of them I liked GG more. Maybe with PRMM is fixed (ie only one version), we can bring back the setup GG and Reg.

BTW Tuesdays seems like a good day for Reg Css, how much of a trouble to get it going on just that day?

A nonexistant server? We had that server up for 6 months.

It wasn't down until this morning when I took it offline. Until this morning, we don't see people trying to populate it very often. Maybe once a week 5 or 6 people would go on and play. That's about it.

No. Please use the PM system to pass around other IPs. If you guys are going to do that, then there's really no need to discuss bringing the CSS server back up.

the server was already being used rarely, im sure if you can get a crew together that will commit to playing on X night, there could be arrangments made to have a WiH server for that occasion just like the mod of the moment server for the older bf mods.

People wont be abandoning wih for other servers.They're just talking out of frustration at the loss of something they love.My initial reaction was the same.But we need to remember that it costs the owners money to run the servers and if people dont play on them that is money going to waste.

The reason the population has been dwindling imo is infact because the regs are so loyal to wih and dont really play anywhere else.So the wih css community has become kind of insular and there's not enough of us to keep the servers populated all the time.

If we want to increase the size of the community here I think we actually have to start playing on others servers a little bit more and recruit new people into our clans when we do so.We have to actively try to get more people to play here.It wont happen on a large scale by itself.I think part of the reason for that is that random clanless pubbers might feel a little intimidated when they join a server and everyone else is tagged up with the same clan names.Thats partly the reason that i like to drop my tags sometimes and play as tina turner.

Lol i've used the name for ages but it still makes me feel wierd when people call me tina.

As for the bot thing,I've always thought it would be a good idea to have 1 bot on the server until 2 real people have joined.It would make waiting by yourself a bit less boring.

I could go along with ONE bot. I dislike searching for a server and finding I've joined one with 12 or 20 or 60 bots. It forces me to check the server status of any server I'm not familiar with.

Do you know you can make it show you which servers have bots on them? I didnt until kems told me. Just right click on the little vac shield beside where it says servers,at the very top of the server browser.Theres an ooption for bots. It will make a little 'B' logo show beside any server that has bots playing.

I'm pretty sure its on the same box as TS but I think its not so much the money thats the problem but the waste of resources.They could host something else on it that will get played more.

Remember that wihadmin didnt say its gone forever,just until there is sufficient interest.Theyr'e still running a cs server its just that its gungame for the moment. If enough people play on it for long enough then when the time comes it will probably change back to reg cs or some other mod.

Screw gun game...I haven't played cs hardly at all since GG got started and is always populated while vanilla isn't. My guess is if GG were to go away the regular CS would be populated almost just as much as it used to. There are plenty of GG servers out there, but there is only ONE wih cs:s!!!

This reason right here is why I say taking down the server is fine. I mean we could never get the amount of people (regs/nonregs) to join the regular css as we do gg, people might like regular more but the numbers for the gg server are vastly better than the numbers of the regular server pre-gg.
