I'm wondering if anyone knows some great music creation software along the lines of the program Reason, but less complicated.
I'm all for learning Reason if it comes down to it, but I'm wondering if there's an easier program.

I want to create Trance/House/Techno tracks from scratch, so I'll need a function that makes samples (including importing wav file samples to be modified, if that's possible).

Any advice/help would be appreciated ;)

ACID + Fruity Loops

Really easy to use, and you can actually make some decent sounding stuff.

Fruity Loops has versions ranging from $40 to $400, and ACID is pretty cheap I believe. PM me if you have questions, or would like to know more about vsti's and where to find some good ones.

acid would be good for trance/house/techno. that program was made with looping and sampling in mind, so it would be a good start. i tried fruity loops once, but i couldn't figure it out, so i deleted it ;O yeah, i could figure out cubase, but not fruity loops >_>
