View Full Version : 360: Battlestations: US Strategies
I saw a thread on this on the battlestations forum but did not give it much thought at first, but after playing a few rounds and talking with other people as well. It seems the US is always on the losing side, unless the Japanese side does a major blunder or the person hasn't figured out what to do yet.
So post your ideas on any type of strategy you think might work.
Here is mine.
Shipyard: Make 2 battleships and 2 heavy cruisers (not sure what the cruisers role is) and send them to the Japanese shipyards. Ignore any other ship, just take out the shipyards at all costs.
Carrier: Make up 5 flights of fighters, send 2 to defend the shipyards, have the other 3 fly over the carrier to defend it, and send them to intercept incoming attack planes. Create 1 dive bomber loaded with depth chargers to help defend against the sub attack.
Not sure how or if this will pan out, but I will give it a try next time.

I had a successful run with one of WihAdmin's co-workers. I was the carriers and he was running the shipyards. I sent all my aircraft up as CAP for the carriers and made a run straight for their airfields. Even though the Yorktown took a massive torp hit early I still made it to the airfield. I relied on my anti-air and CAP to keep planes off of me. I change 2 sets of aircraft to dive bombers and sent them after the airfields. They didn't do much but in the meantime I tied up their aircraft from striking our shipyards. The man on ships attacked the Japanese shipyards with a 2 battleships and 2 cruisers. He had some help from the other side shooting at thier own shipyards but once they were down we concentrated on the airfields. By this time my carriers were lost but he turned over one of the shipyards to me and I took a battleship and a crusier to take out one field and he took 2 crusiers after the other. We lost a couple of ship and took some slight damage to our shipyards but they stayed active. I think the crusiers have pretty good anti-air so ichi's plan could work they also have torpedos which can help against ships but a DD would help against subs because I got a sub destroyed by a DD that way. Pretty wild night the U.S. side only won that one time out of about 6 runs. All the other times the person kept the carriers close to their shipyards.

In that battle Knot was talking about, I made a HUGE blunder on the Japanese side. I thought I was still on US so I attacked and destroyed my OWN shipyards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got all turned around when I was in a naval battle with both Knot and my co-worker. Once I dispatched their ships I attacked the nearest shipyard, thinking it's theirs. Nope. Both shipyards were mine!
That undoubted helped the US side to victory.

That must have been just after I got off. I'm sorry I missed that.

buggers, i tried to get an invite after i dled the demo of it, but nobody was talkin.
i found that sacrificing your first wave of dive bombers and torpedo planes then converting over to half and half of figheters with bombs and torpedo planes with 500kg's works really good.

We couldn't invite you in bc we were already in a game. Some of the games lasted quite a while.
