All right I was on Teamspeak and I heard in the background the startup sounds of the intros. I told the guy there was a way to skip the intro videos. So I made a guide for everyone on how to skip them. Heres how:
1. Put this line into internet explorer, "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies". If you did not install it to this directory you will have to try to search for it. Other browsers do not work according to Spectre_Lanc.
2. Make a new folder called backup in the Movies folder.
3. Drag all files except menu_loggedin.bik and menu.bik to the newly created backup folder.
4. Close the folder and open BF2 it should go straight to the Login screen.

i would do this only if is true that you save memory. but does that mean you use the memory in-game? or you just save it but dont use it?:dunno:

I don't think it will save memory because why would the game keep it in the memory when it is never going to have to show it again. It is just a time saver.

pretty sure the movies are dumped from memory after they are played... i just don't want to see them every time I start up the game
anyway, another thing you can do to speed map load/authentication times is to Defrag and Defrag often... (of course many/most of you know this, but for those of you who don't...)
ideally I'd love to have an old 10,000 rpm 36gb raptor solely dedicated to bf2 and it's various mods.. (I bet they're cheap on ebay now)

I got that raid 0 which really helps and about every week I go into one of my other partitions and defrag my main partition with perfectdisk 8.0. I'm Always the first one on. I don't ever recall being beat to be the first one on the round. Also don't use the standard disk defragmenter with windows it sucks. ie. I defragged with the standard disk defrag and when I start up my Windows XP loading bar takes 4 swipes. When I use Perfectdisk it only takes 2 and 1/2 swipes. Also this is a pretty bogged down OS I have about 60 gigs of various programs loaded on it.

i've noticed you spawn quick.. you should ALWAYS be squad lead... then you can switch with someone (would be awesome on jalabadadingdong - Skyazen takes about 10 minutes to spawn using his TRS80) :jerkit:

LOL. Ya I usually load the level twice before he is on. And that includes the 1 min I get to play before I get disconnected and have to load again.
I will try to be squad leader for now on.

so true, but that will cost ya a hundred... defragging is just an overlooked, no cost improvement... always wanted to try a third party defragger as derek(?) suggested

You can just delete the whole movie folder it'self.
Won't cause any problems, will cut down on ram use, and no more backround/startup movies

May look crappy without the movies, but it does save on memory. I would at least rename the legal.bik, intro.bik, ea.bik files. Doing that takes you straight to the menu and you don't have to watch all that startup stuff. WHICH IS GOOD!
