Ok this is just an odd but interesting article. I actually read all the links and comments at the bottom for possible identifications of this ball. One of the links is extremely odd talking about metal balls made of an alloy combination that does not occur naturally and found encased in solid rock that is estimated to be over 3 Billion years old way before the time of man. Neat stuff.

The final theory listed: it being a cryo storage tank for a spacecraft seems the most believable.

Here's the more interesting link that kilroy referred to.

the one he has on exibit rotates on its own, ,locked in a display case, free of outside vibrations.
Truth or hoax?

It would be cool if it was true but it sounds more like a HOAX but who knows it just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info. Something like that would have every country interested not just NASA

hey! im acquainted with the guy who found the object (Roger Arrick).
He's not pulling anybodys leg. He's an interesting, intelligent and cool guy.
No hoax.
He runs robotics.com and synthesizers.com (I've bought more than a few of his products in the past).
he is the author of Robotics for Dummies.
maybe ill send him an email and see if he got the 'final word' about what it is.

OK. I guess he never got an "official" word. Roger said:
I think it's probably a canister to hold fire extinguishing chemicals on an aircraft. Just a guess.
What happened to the original image?
