Hey guys,
So here is my dilemma. I want to update my Bios, but I can't fit on the bootable floppy the: ms start up files, the AFUDos, and the Bios file. Is there a way around this?
can I use one floppy for the ms startup, then once started into dos use a different floppy to run my AFUDos and Bios file?
I don't want to be switching out floppy's and screwing things up, then BIOS update is a little scary :(
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Not sure about using the multi-floppy.. Just curious though, there is no express auto updates for your motherboard?
Maybe you can use this, and modify it to work for your problem.

There are several ways I can update the BIOS on this Mobo, but using AFUDos is the best, least likely to have corruption....and to me...that is a good thing!

i was going to suggest a bootable CD for installing it all, it may waste a CD but would that not work as well as a floppy?
i must admitto using winflash for my award bios updates, it has never failed me risky though it is

yeah i've just used the windows flash util that's come with my last few boards, mostly because it's always worked and i haven't had a floppy in years. i've also heard a usb key will work in some cases.

You have several choices as to how to tackle the problem. I just used an NTFS boot disk to get into DOS, and ran the flash utility off of the hard drive. Using two floppies as you suggested will also work - one boot, one with the BIOS stuff. Once it has booted into DOS, DOS is loaded into memory, so there's no problems caused by removing the original boot floppy, nor by running AFUDOS. As was suggested, you could also make a bootable CD if you were so inclined - just be sure you include the necessary files for CD-ROM support in DOS... though I think nowadays they're on there by default.

Is this for the P5B mobo? If so, I just used the included BIOS update facility on the CDROM.

This is for the P5B WiHAdmin. Using anything but AFUDos is fine, but the don't always fully flash the bios, you can risk corruption (see the thread I posted above). AFUDos is the BEST way to flash Asus mobo's, I learned that a long time ago with all of my Asus boards. I finally was able to flash my bios (all in the link above). Don't forget though, once you flash you have to remove the cmos battery and then clear the cmos with the jumpers.

i used the windows util to flash the bios of my last two asus boards. i downloaded the bios file first tho and did it locally instead of via ftp. i usually go in afterwards and load the defaults then restore my settings.
