Well, guys. As I was playing CS:S this morning my wife asked me to pause the game, or come down when I was dead. I told her it wasn't that easy, and she said that the basement was flooding.

I apologized for slaying Mother Goose (I only believe in slaying for intentional TKs, I didn't think it would kill him if he was already dead!), and logged out.

I guess a pipe has a leak, because the basement sure had water in it. I couldn't say how much because we have a "floating floor" with gaps in it that the water was flowing through.

Thankfully the cleanup wasn't too extravagent and it's well on its way. Nor was there too much damage. I'm also very glad that we bought a steam cleaner a couple weeks ago because it pulls the water right off the floor and out of the carpet.

The moral of the story- for the next few days I want a specialized weapon in CS- the Hoover Steam Cleaner. :yuck:

Haha that sucks.

I had a similar problem.
2 walls of my room are on the corner of my house and there was a lot of water build-up causing mouldy water to seep into my room and soak my carpet. I had to slice half of my carpet off, rip up the wood edging on the 2 walls and tear up the spongey insulation crap.
I then dug a trench outside to divert the water flow.
My room is still in shambles : P

Yeah and trap the mould in my room so that I get sick as a dog. Good advice

no, make a duct tape water diversion system, kinda like aquaducts, but with tape, divert it directly from the source to outside.

Thing is it was hard to pinpoint the source.. especially since this was during the week of a big snowfall : P
It was comin in from a lot of places, and the elevation of the ground near my walls fluctuated a lot.

That's because a basement down here would automatically be flooded. :D

Well what I did worked.. there's no more leakage. So, problem solved.
