I've noticed that after the Eject incident that the admin have been really looking over everyone and coming down hard on anyone even suspected of hacking. Because there have been so many people confused about the screen shot thing could an admin explain the process of what exactly to do when the admins ask you to send stuff in. Again, I am expressing my extreme and growing stupidity in the technology field. I have been around when admins say to people "send screen shot here ... blah blah" and then kick people right away. Often they get perma banned because they don't even know how to send a screen shot, let alone hack.

First of all, what the snapshot allows the admins to do is take two screenshots simultaneously. It takes on from the admins POV and saves it to the admin's machine, while the other one is taken from the player's view and is saved to the player's machine

Normally when an admin takes a snapshot of a player, you will will a message from the console in the chat window displaying the current time.

Right after that, if you are the one being snapshoted then you will see another message saying "mad5cout has been snapshoted by Prowler130". This is how you know it is you. If you dont see it, then just ignore it and play on.

More often then not admins will take more snapshots then just one. They will take multiple snapshots in order to copensate for possible lag in taking the snapshot.

If it was you the admin was taking snapshots of, then the admin will announce it in game and tell you where you can send or upload the pics. For the most part we have been putting a time limit on this (usually agreed to be 30 min). If the pics are not sent with in the time limit or you do not comply, you will be banned until we get the SS.

To find the screenshots go to this directory:
C:\program files\steam\steamapps\<steam_name>\counter-strike source\cstrike\screenshots

The screenshots will be jpeg files and will be titled the same as the map they were taken on followed by a number (0,1,2,3,...). Usually you will have to send in the latest ones, but the admin should specify.

Anymore questions about this, post here

EDIT:
This is where you will be uploading SS from now on

I like the idea.

However, I think the process may be too hard for some people to understand, like the FTP portion, for example.

Maybe you guys should consider writing a page on the site that allows players to upload images to an admin area and then tell them that they will hear from you shortly. Or, you could be slick and right a Windows application that can detect the screenshot and then upload automagically.

Just had Cherry Coke, so I'm thinking clearly right now.

I tend to agree. Hopefully, I will never have to worry about this because this message is pretty indicitive of how tech savy I am. I have used an FTP once like over five years ago and have no idea how to access one. I am certain there are players like me who are the same.

Just my two cents...I had some SS taken during the tourney, and even as tech challenged as I am, I found that I could find the file and email it (with the proper help).

Is there any other file formatt these snapshots can be saved as? because these snapshots are often huge in size, I know that I sent in a few snapshots that were an 18mb file compressed. Maybe switch over to jpg?

You can open them up with a picture viewer and then save them as .jpg.

i believe one of that last few updates valve release changed the format from tga to jpg... so they should be smaller in size.

"should be".
