This is the offical system requirements for BF2, so here ya go. Even though I promise if you are running on anything like this it will most likely be a slide show:
- OS: Windows XP
- Processor: Pentium IV 1.7 GHz. Recomended: Pentium IV 2 GHz or Athlon XP
- Memory: 512 MB RAM. Recomended: 1 GB RAM
- Video Card Ram: 128 MB.
- Video Card: Compatible with DirectX version 9.0b
- Multiplayer: 1 DVD per PC
And the official release date for the game is now june 23, 2005.

Wtf is that supposed to mean? Do i need a DVD rom? :o

Don't think you have to have a DVD drive. Pretty sure all it means is you get only one DVD instead of six cd's. Cd's will soon be obsolete and be replaced by dvd's which means faster load times and better quality. I originally heard they would offer either the cd or dvd version. But if your drive can read it, then the dvd is the no brainer.

The bigger question here is "Why don't you already have one?!?!"

Well I guess I do meet all those reqs easily, but the 1 gig RAM I would like to get, but not sure how to, as I use a laptop. Anyways, I could run Doom 3 and HL 2 fine, so I'm guessing that I'll be alright.

On laptops its acutally fairly easy. All you're really doing is lifting up your keyboad and pluging the RAM in. I would definitely suggest you get another stick of 512mb ram as it will greatly improve your performance on a game like BF2. Not sure if you've ever played PoE on your laptop, but that should give you some idea.
Or on the bottom there is a plate that you will unscrew and snap in the new ram(just did this on my dads HP)

Oh thats simple enough, I thought I would have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get more RAM. Thanks for info guys.

A DVD Rom will not play in a regular CD. To install this game you will have to have a DVD player in your 'puter. If you don't you will have to get one. They only about $50 or so now.

well theres going to be two versions, the huge multidisk cd version, and the small same cost dvd version that's all on one disk.

Yes, they are going to sell both CD and DVD versions of the game. So you don't *have* to buy a dvd rom.

SO here is thread ;)
anyways...
This shit scares me!!!!
These seem to be more or less the final requirements from EA:
Q: Can you give us a definitive answer as to what the system requirements are?
A: Minimum System Requirements are 1.7 GHZ CPU, 512mb of RAM, Video card that supports 1.4 shaders. That is Geforce FX and higher, Radeon 8500 and higher. (Geforce 4 Cards will not work).
Recommended System Requirements are 2.0 GHZ to 2.5 GHZ CPU, 1gig of RAM, Video Card that supports 1.4 Shaders.
No geforce 4 support....there goes a bunch of peeps....wonder if it is EA and NVidia getting together on that one

First off the POE team couldn't have had anything to do with this game since the game was being developed while POE was. the only outside team involved is the guys that made Desert Combat for Battlefield 1942.
Second I was just wondering since I am not very computer savvy will my Radeon 9600 run this game fine?

trauma studios was bought by dice, and added to the dice.ca office.
(since trauma is in the states and canada, and the team making bf2 are in sweden, you should be able to connect the dots)
and i'm still going to stick it on my P3.

Ok I need some help here.
My specs I think are:
Athlon 2.4 +
1 gig Ram
GE-Force somethin with 256 meg ram
Now when I load up BFV. It stutters on the opening title and movie. However, when I play the game ( aka POE) I play just fine. Although infantry fighting is sort of crappy I think thats the same for everyone. Is this new engine of BF2 going to run smoother on my computer or where do I need to upgrade.

Gonna be hard to guess until the demo comes out. Then we'll have a clue. I've read that the netcode for BF2 is very good even with 100-200ms ping, you won't notice the difference.
