XBOX 360 Info.. guys can u fill me in?

I was just reading up on how the 360 works online and it looks like you have to pay to play online at all. Is this true, and if so how much is it?

Also, does ur 360 download updates for the console to upgrade it's drivers/performance?

Is it easy to find other gamers online to play matches? Better yet, is it easy to find friends?

Do any games u play have noticeable slowdown in framerate?

Lastly, is it worth getting an XBOX 360??

You pay something like $50/yr for the Xbox Live Gold membership. That lets you play all Live enabled games online.

Yes, it downloads updates periodically. Usually quarterly. You'll have to dig on the net to find out the contents of the updates.

Very easy to find online games, assumign that its a new game and there are people playing it. So if you buy a year old game, good luck trying to find online matches for it. Finding, messaging, chatting to friends are very easy on Live. You can talk to your friend online while each of you play a different game even.

It depends on the game and your display. I've seen HD games have a tearing effect on my Pannasonic HD Plasma. But the same game is fine on my Pannasonic HD projector. I've also seen slowdowns here and there. Is it playable? Yeah. No problems.

Lastly, is it worth getting an XBOX 360??
IMO, definitely worth getting an Xbox 360. Plenty of games to keep me happy right now. More and more game developers are jumping off the "PS3 exclusive" ship and going to develope for the 360 as well. Online component is implemented very well. Excellent HD video and DD audio from the 360. I've had my 360 since day 1 and I have never regretted making the purchase.

I haven't bought a console in years but finally decided to grab a 360. It's the best purchase I've made all year.
