I'm starting to get the hang of this and I like to get the flags. If my mouse pointer would stop disappearing when it's time to pick a spawn point I'd play more.
:dunno:
That makes it tough to play.
It worked fine until I got my joystick working, maybe there is a bug there.
Any ideas appreciated.

It is possible Bob, but I doubt it. You have how many megs of ram and what type of vid card? There is a setting called alternate spawn I believe, check that box. It cuts out the visual of everyone playing I believe but lets you see the spawn box. This cuts down on lag. Give it a shot, what the heck :D

Doh! Do you mean I need to upgrade? I can (within reason.)
What do I need to get?
What video card is the bomb?
would 1GB 400 mhz RAM?

Boy Drayu, your specifications astonish me...
edit: I think a new vid card is in your future, I have a similar proc. 2.53, and it runs it fine, but I would also recommend you get another 512 of ram

Get at least a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB or a 256MB version of the card. There are newer cards out there so if you have the $, get something newer.
Also, another 512mb of RAM will do wonders for POE and I will assume that it'll be used by BF2 as well once that comes out.

yeah, if you plan on running BF2, I wouldrecommend upping those 2 components, the 6600 Vid card is also a nice choice, that is what I am looking at getting.

yeah, without a doubt you need 1gig of ram! And the video card, what ever you can spend, go for it. I would say something in geforce6600 range would be best. Better than a 9800 in the long run, and less money. I would check out www.pricewatch.com for the best prices. So far the $$ range is around $150 and up. I would stick with the 6600gt in the 6600family, or even a 6800 if you could :D (and it is specificity, gorro!)

I got no wife, so I can pretty much take my pick. What I don't want is 6 months down the road, having to upgrade again. So I think something just below the bleeding edge, over priced stuff is what I want.
So I can add another 512 ram to what I have or toss the 512 and get 1 gig? And on the Dell site, it looks like 512 requires TWO. Am I right?

Dude you got a dell!?! :( Sorry :D Yeah anyways, go with two 512's and a new video card. I have been doing research on video cards myself and watching their prices. I am going to go with the 6800gt 256meg BFG card. Put that into the pricewatch search bar and it will be the first one to pop up.
As for the memory, check around to see if you can get the memory from anywhere because the memory prices have dropped dramatically in the past month! I think dell will still charge a butt load, so check around, it may be worth you time!

Memory.... Read your computer manual to see what type it needs. It's pointless to buy the fastest speed memory when your computer can't use it. In other words, your 2 pieces of RAM will run at the slower speed of the two.

atomicbob - Ignore anything Bonez saids about overclocking your hardware. No offense to Bonez or atomicbob, but I don't think atomicbob is ready for the problems that come along with overclocking hardware. Just put out the $ and buy a fast video card and run it at the default OEM settings.

I want nothing to do with any kinds of "problems". I have enough problems with plug and play stuff.

Bob, sorry to seem as if we are beating you up. What I really think is that we are simply amazed that you could play POE on that system! :jester:
Ok now in all seriousness, stay away from the card that bonez posted, for less then a $100 more you can get the 6800GT 256meg BFG (overclocked from 350 to 370 by BFG). That card will undoubtedly last you longer than the 6600. And as for the memory, check around, but try and get the same as what you have. If it is a dual-channel board then two sticks of 512 will run better than one stick of 1gig. Just keep that in mind. Use www.pricewatch.com to find the prices

that and it's the best proforming card out of all the 6600gt's offered.
