why on earth are my 3d06 CPU marks so low?

i get like 650 cpu points, most all other systems with my processor are at 800-1000

heatsink is fine temps are normal, a whopping 40 degrees on a hot day, it is just slow....

anything i should be looking at? maybe i need to reinstall windows

that does sound low, what cpu do you have, have you OC'ed or messed with anything?

i have a p4 northwood 3.0(ht) this was not o'cd in any way, i have noted that there are wide differences in the way 3d'06 reports this some people get nearer 1000 others are like me and low..

i replaced the CPU as well and it made a little difference, if id do oc to 3.2ghz i get about 100 extra points,.

as it stands i get about 2400 odd 3d marks thanks to appauling CPU performance.

i still think it is time for a new processor

other then that everything is normal,

I get 2976... which really doesn't seem right for my system. I have a pentium D 950 3.4Ghz and an evga 7900GT.

Sure, I haven't tweaked it yet, but I figured I'd at least be able to do better than that.

Actually.. it looks like I'm missing the HDR/SM3.0 results... hrm...

-- update --

After installing the new nvidia drivers (Forceware 91.47), everything ran okay. No tweaking, my score is 5378. Not bad, but I think I can certainly do better.

Sooo.. perhaps you might want to update your drivers?

i do not expect huge 3d marks i only have a 6800 gt and the gfx tests carry alot of weight in the programme, i also think it may be a bug of somekind for the HT single core processors, seeing that i have seen wide variations in the cpumark scores.

my 6800 got like low 4000's in 3dmark 05...i dont remember the 06 though

and anti gen i dont think you are going to squeeze much more than 5500 out of it... i hit 5200 with my x1900xt and a pentium 4 at 3.9...

whats your cpu score at??? i know my old chip was like 1200 and this one im trying to hit 2700, more than friggin double!!!

3dmark 06 is pretty brutal on older systems (and a 6800 is showing it's age these days unfortunately). the p4 HTs have been out awhile so any bug in the software would probably be known by now.

you got anything running the background chewing up cpu cycles? even that could make a difference.
