I am wondering about clan logistics. Do all of you have a sperate computer to run a dedicated server for your practices or how do you make that work? Is there a way to hold practices without a private server? Also just curious as to how often practices are held. If you have anything else that seems important for running a clan and its logistics, I would be interested. Thanks for the help.

I'm not the leader of PNP, but I'll tell you some stuff anyhow. We have practices twice a week. One that is just for fun, which is on Wed, then the second which is pretty mandatory, which is on Sat. Usually we just find a ghost server and practice amongst ourselves. Other times if we feel like goofing off we go to a 24/7 Rats server and just wreak havoc on the unsuspecting players. One thing to remember is not to make your practices to serious. It's really all just for fun and to get everyone in the clan playing at the same time.

It'd be best if you could get your own private server, a small 12-man would do, but as Vash suggested, you could opt for an empty server that happens to have the map you're interested in. Make sure it's from a quality provider and that everyone in your clan gets nice low ping. You'll want to have scheduled pracs at least 2 times a week -- try to compromise and reach times that fit everyone's schedule.

I also suggest that you form a practice 'n training regimen. When you get on the server with your clan mates, make it very clear to them that it's business mode. Have'em drop their weapons and hold knives or something if ya have problems. Have your strat man spawn and put the rest 'n spec. He'll go over positions, routes, timing, delayed rushes, what to look out for, etc. Then you'll go over it as a team. Have them run the routes, 'n get in position. Time it, test it against your B-team. Then do it again on the other side. That's the practice -- learning the strat, the map, etc.

The training session comes into play when you test your strats against other clans in scrims. These sessions will measure your strats and give you an idea of how well your team will perform together under pressure. I think it'd be good to pick up a sister clan if at all possible to train with, and to familiarize yourself with the top players/leaders of clans that you'll be playing against. Also, if they have them availabe now, it'd be a smart move to look over demos from past matches of other successful clans.

of course saur's practices are really useful for for dompetitive clans (which part of pnp might become one day) but for the most part, we in pnp just love to play together. I know we've had many countless hours of fun screwing around on a scoutznknivez server (camping till the break of dawn and pissing everyone off), on a random cs server with a guy named borlaK, and on a glassfloor server that we still play for hours on end today. All in all i get the feeling your clan is being made with pills in order to have fun and maybe jump in the next wih tourney, in which case i recommend to get to know people before you let them join. Let them join based on personality, not skill. And finally schedule practices just to pull the clan together, not to work on strats and positioning that are generally useless unless in a small tourney.

Clan Bullet Sponges holds no practices.

Of course, we also don't compete in anything anyway. I keep telling Mother Goose to join a competitive clan but since his only access to broadband is at my house he really can't be there for a clan enough.

I do try to practice my skills like yelling in frustration, watching my guy slump over dead, and yelling, "WHAT?! 45 damage in three hits and he did 291 in ONE hit? WTF is that?!" But that's kind of a disorganized practice.

hehehe. I have now fully convinced myself that a high death count is good in CS b/c while I'm dead, I can eat, drink, mess around the computer, watch for hackers, etc... 3:10 k:d ratio is a good nite for me.

Huh?

I just have a clan.. we don't even really practice much. Of course, that may be an unorthadox way of running one.
