OK, I was playing bf42 tonight, things were going good, then everything froze, couldnt move, nothing. REbooted, and got this message <windows Root>\system32\hal.dll is either corrupt or missing please reinstall, have tried safe mode, recovery disk every variation I could think of, went on the net and tried to copy the correct info, but it is giving me access denied. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

wow... that's your hardware allocation layer (and even tho i'm drunk at the moment).. that means you're fu*ked.... best bet is to back up what you can and reinstall. course there could be more to the issue but at this point... when you get a HAL error... it's usually over.

OK OK truthfully, it is in pieces, I am check ing everything possible, reinstall is last resort, but the good news, I CAN PLAY TONIGHT!!! I just finished installing on my Pentium pc, not as fast as my athlon, but damn close, jut have to put my joystick on and gamepad on, then I'll be good to go. I need a break after this.
