Since many of you fear and loathe knifing with a passion, and just cant seem to get to that perfect position for it, here's my guide for learning how!
Warning: You will die. Many times. It is necessary.
First, get to know your maps. Find out how many routes there are from one spawn to the other. Some maps have more routes than others.
(the best map for knifing is Piransei)
Second, learn how to rush.
If you start out close to one route (such as the T underpass in dust) go that way.
Never have your primary weapon out when rushing. In fact, this is a guide to knifing, so never buy a primary weapon. Throw away your pistol, too. You wont need it.
Run each path once. Try to find the path that the least number of enemies are rushing.
If you happen to see enemies rushing, and they dont see you, dont bother stopping for them. Run past them. Due to the limited field of vision CS:S offers, you can remain unseen fairly easily.
Third, get behind the last enemy, not the first.
If you try to run around the first enemy you see, chances are theres another one behind them who will end up seeing you. Take wide arcs and head further down whatever path you're on. Train is a good map for wide arcs.
Fourth, use knife-attack 2. It has very limited range, but if you come up directly behind someone, its a 1-hit kill. If they're running and you just cant hit them with attack 2, hit them once or twice with attack 1 to slow them down, then lay on the fatality.
The above guide relies heavily on the assumption that you will rush, and that you will spawn close to one pathway so that when you rush, you can get far within enemy territory before they arrive.
I take no responsibility for the loss of anyone's rank.
