These tips are to help players who command.

Number one tip: It is your job to know where the enemy are and where they are heading and to communicate that to your team. You and only you have an overall view of the entire map. Communication is key. Remember if your team wins you double your points!

Always click that scan button as soon as it's ready so you know what the enemy are doing and where their forces are amassed.

It's also important to know that commanders can not earn teamwork points (since patch 1.2 I think). That means you do not get points for healing, reviving, dropping ammo, repairing, etc. I'm not entirely sure if you get points for capturing flags any more either.

Also, when you fight in the battlefield you only get 1 point per kill as a commander. When any other player kills another player they get 2 points.

The only time you'll get 2 points for your kills as commander is if your team wins and you double your score. It is more difficult for them to win if their commander is not doing his job, but fighting in the battlefield.

Also note, they fixed it so if you become commander at the end of a map and win, any earned points you got as NOT a commander are NOT doubled. ONLY the points you earn as a commander get doubled now.

Remember, YOUR SCORE DEPENDS ON YOUR TEAM'S SCORE.

The best way to make points as a commander is to provide supply boxes for friendly armor, mobile-AA, and APC's. Artillery kills don't earn you points. Usually I save artillery for a flag that's being captured, to save that flag.

If you keep your armor alive at the front lines, they will kill a lot more enemy. If that armor dies and has to drive accross the map again to get to the front lines you are losing points!

Remember, as commander, your points are based on the overall score of your team. The higher they score, the better you do! And if your team wins, you get your score doubled!

So, if you are smart, you will drop supply boxes for armor that are in battle with other armor or for armor that recently got damaged.

Keep them alive! You'll make more points!

Another good tip is to drop supply boxes where enemy armor can not see them, but friendly armor can. Like at a corner of a building or behind some other obstuction that blocks enemy view of the supply box.

Make sure to zoom in to the battlefield once in a while with your mouse wheel. But don't focus on one area too long. Remember, your job isn't to watch one battle going down. Your job is to provide reconnaissance information and support where and when it's needed. You usually will have more than one squad to support. So try not to focus too long on one battle.

Voice is also pretty important as a commander. Letting squad leaders know what's going on is important.

Most players assume however that when they speak, they are speaking to everyone. That is not true. You only speak to squad leaders. They have to relay that information to their squad. So make sure you give them time to do so. In other words, it is pointless to say "hey tell that guy in your squad there's an enemy around the corner from him." It's more important to say things like "The such-and-such flag is completely unguarded" or "an enemy tank is moving to this location"

Also note you can speak with a single squad by selecting that squad and using your normal voice activation key (for squad chat, not commander chat).

Also, use that "spotted" button after you do your scans. Most people don't realize that the real pro's out there actually do look at their maps and their mini-map hud to see where enemy are. If you spot enemy (especially mobile AA, armor, jeeps and flying stuff) it will help your team more than you know. When you spot something key, like a mobile-AA, make sure you tell your squads where it is.

Remember, if they are not NEAR it, they won't see your spotted enemy. They must be pretty close to it to see it. So if a chopper is flying on the other side of the map, don't expect him to see that tank you spotted. Tell him "hey, there's a tank over there, i'm spotting it for you." When he moves to it he'll see it.

Make sure to spot those singled out dots frequently. Don't let someone get behind the lines and take a control point from you. You don't want your army flanked!

Don't worry about spotting dots within a UAV. Your team can already see those! :)

Yes, some people get annoyed by all the commander spotting. But I think it's totally worth it. So to all those who get annoyed... DEAL WITH IT. :)

I love it when I'm in an air battle with another plane and my commander is spotting that other plane for me. I have a HUGE advantage that way. So, I do the same thing for pilots when I'm commanding.

There's nothing that points out a "NOOB" commander like dropping arty on a captured flag too late (after enemy have already left the area and captured the flag). The idea is to time it so you drop arty on them BEFORE they capture your flag and have a chance to leave that area.

The only way to do that is to know they are heading that way. So use that scan button and spot them!

Another "bad move" is to drop artillery on a flag being attacked by friendly. You dont get points for it and it can really make players hate you. I really hate it when my squad kills off every enemy at a flag and we're about to catpure it when BAMB my squad gets teamkilled by artillery.

I could write quite a lot more tips about commanding, but for now I'm going to leave it at this. This post is already getting way too long. :)

I may write another tip of the day with more commanding tips later.

I hope these few tips on commanding help some folks.
