Learning where to aim is just as important as anything else in this game.
I strongly recommend that everyone look through this site to learn the best places to aim against vehicles in BF2.
The coolest thing is the tank vs. tank one-shot-kill in which you ricochet a shot off the top fender and into the turret which gets you 19 damage points total. (starts the tank burning in one shot) The site even has a video of it.

An important note: vehicles when empty are weaker than vehicles that have players in them.
