I'm pretty sure most of you know how to fire a TV missle. But just in case one or two don't, I'm going to post some tips anyhow...

First, the "TV Missle" in the attack chopper is actually a TOW. It's a wire guided missle that tracks toward a "painted" target. The target is painted with a laser beam, the missle will automatically go to where the laser beam is being "painted."

Just knowing that simple fact will make you more accurate with your shots.

By clicking your mouse when your crosshairs are on a target, you are "painting" that target. You do not need to hold down the mouse button. It is actually better to quickly click each time you need to make an adjustment. But be careful not to over-adjust by clicking too many times. Trust that the missle will go to that place you clicked and it will.

I recommend that all new gunners practice on an empty server running Wake Island. What you do is land the chopper on the edge of the carrier so the nose is slightly over the edge and pointing toward the artillery island. Then hit F2 to jump into the gunner position. Now you can fire all day at the island and get a good "feel" for aiming with the laser guided TV Missle. Practice trying to hit artillery pieces on the island and other targets.

Make sure that you shoot at least 20 more missles than you think you need to. You really do need to get a good feel for it. A good gunner should not miss.

Also, don't shoot tanks with bullets. If you see a tank, you need to switch to that TV camera quick and take him out. There is nothing more frustrating to a pilot than pointing a gunner at a tank to have him shoot the tank with bullets that do not harm the tank. It's times like that that the pilot wants to land the chopper, yank you out of the gunner seat and smack you over the head a few times with his shoe while saying "being stupid should hurt."

Good advice.... I'll have to try it.
