bloody 5.1 audio CD's will not play on my home system.

my setup

Memorex DVD player with Coax Digital out
sony de-697 7.1 surround amp (using Caox in form DVD)

the amp can decode DTS DTS 96/24 dolby digital and other fun stuff...

i put this 5.1 audio CD in and it will not play, the DVD play is going... no sound the reciever does not even pick up the signal..

i am thinking

the signal is not true DTS
the CD-s were made bad ( this is not a commerical release)
my reciever is a POS

i tried it in my daugters 5.1 system which is similar in many ways to the system i heard the CD's playing on before (one of those integrated DVD/5.1 amp things)

still no go...

play on my computer... get the "rushing" bitstream noise no decode ( i have multiple Ac3 and dts players and decoders on me PC both software and hardware ( though am using an older sb LIve not the onboard 5.1)

anyway i try it does not work..

any ideas? this has me stumped especially the PC i should be able to get some sound on it...

hel even the home reciever should work... but i get nothing though i did hear it work before

If it is burnt media--the disc may not be readable by the drive. The quality of the burn is dependent on the drive burning the media, the media substrate (the disc material, lot#, burning speed, etc..) and so forth. First you check and make sure the disc is readable in other players. If this is the case then, it is your player that is either not able to read it or a transmission problem from the player to the box/speakers. But from the sounds of it, I would bet on the disc.

disc can be read the player recognises the disc and plays the music or at least appears to, i think there is a Tx problem fro mthe player to the receiver, one thing i was reading though i was not sure if it is true, there is alot of grey information out there about this is that the DTS signal needs to be encrypted hdmi or somthing, i did get it to work on my pc with windvd, which does not help the home system which both amp and player are meant to support DTS i will look at it more closely i think... either that or i move my pc to the living room and use the spdif

Let me understand this right. The amp/receiver and computer both handle DTS (which is basically digitalized dolby transcoded) and the disc does play or has played before yet you can't get it to play again.

I think I found your answer. It is the filter for the signal.
