Post your favorite obscure movies here, with a little info about the movie. Basicly movies you don't see for sale at the retailers.

Final Option: A SAS officer infiltrates a radical group that takes over American Embassy in London. With good SAS action in the end.

Final Countdown: USS Nimitz goes through a freak storm that transport them back in time to December 1941. Some F14's vs. Japanese Zero's goodness. Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen.

By the Sword: Former fencer released from prison, goes to work for unscrupouls fencing teacher. Some good sword fights. F. Murry Abrahms and Eric Roberts.

i dunno how obscure, but these seem to be lesser known.

run lola run - a woman has twenty minutes to get money before her bf robs a grocery store. the way it was filmed is more what i like than it's simple plot tho.

empire records - a movie about some kids who work in a music store.

the machinist - a guy who has insomnia starts doubting his sanity.

Battle Royale! Movie about a bunch of kids selected to kill each other on a island, last one to survive get's to go home.

Kickass movie.. I think there's a second one too :O

As for my picks:

American Psycho (seriously, a lot of ppl have not seen it)
Bully (high school story where a bully gets killed by classmates in the most brutal manner)
Dark City (very strange but very cool movie. I don't think it did very well in the box office but I sure liked it)

Moving, starring Richard Pryor, Stacey Dash, Randy Quaid, and Dana Carvey. It's a hilarious comedy about a family who has to move to Idaho after their father gets laid off from his job. I have an old previously viewed VHS copy of this from Blockbuster, but for some reason they haven't released it to DVD yet. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/6301035828/sr=8-1/qid=1155258617/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-7546270-8539950?ie=UTF8

Batle Royale is cool (just saw it last weekend), but I've heard the sequel stinks.

Brick - It came out on dvd on tuesday. It's an indie film noir in a high school setting, and it was extremely well done. Not really sure if it's obscure, but I just heard of it this week.

Oldboy - This is one of the most violent and twisted movies I've seen. It also has the best fight scene I've ever seen (really, it's worth seeing just for the hallway fight).

Road Rage - omg this movie sucks. If you like watching movies that are so terrible it's hilarious, this is a must see.

Dunno how obscure my movies are, my movie intake has been twisted by my friends. Some of mine have already been mentioned too, so I'll just add Pi to the mix. There are some old time movies that are probably obscure to the younger generations but were popular in their time - don't know if those count. I'll throw out Dr. Strangelove anyway. Despite some rough edges, I liked Infinity (partial bio of Richard Feynman) too.

As for hilariously bad sci-fi movies:

*Plan 9 from Outer Space (director is famous for never retaking shots)
*Manos, the Hands of Fate
*Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter ("Where are all our lesbians!?")

Multiplex
08-15-2006, 08:29 PM
The Director's cut (that I have at least) had the Harrison Ford narration audio removed from the movie entirely and there are three different scenes in the movie where actors can be seen speaking but not heard due to missing audio bites.

The copy I got... I picked up about 5 years ago I think and I checked out reviews on amazon to see wth was up (I'd already seen the original) and others seemed to cofirm the missing audio.

The narration was pretty important to understanding some parts of the movie imo.

If they have not seen the Godfather, they are clearly under a f#$%ing rock and have no bearing to determine which movies are obscure and which are not.

Blade Runner was so mainstream in its time, it's not even funny. It was a bench mark just like Tron and some others in terms of computer generated effects and what not so a lot of people went to see it.

1980 "Somewhere In Time" Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour
Great movie to watch with a wife/girlfriend/date etc.. gets um mushy to go in for the , well. This movie did not get alot of attention when it came out in 1980. More than just a chick flick though, trust me:yaya: .

Plot/Summary
Young writer Richard Collier is met on the opening night of his first play by an old lady who begs him to "Come back to me". Mystified, he tries to find out about her, and learns that she is a famous stage actress from the early 1900s, Elise McKenna. Becoming more and more obsessed with her, he manages, by self hypnosis, to travel back in time where he meets her. They fall in love, a matching that is not appreciated by her manager. Can their love outlast the immense problems caused by their "time" difference? And can Richard remain in a time that is not his?http://www.somewhereintime.tv/

evil dead 2 - good and fuuunny

the siege of firebase gloria- vietnam film starring r. lee ermmy playing what else, himself....a hard charging marine. it's not very polished but r. lee. actually acts like i think he would have been as a marine gunny. anyway, if you are a war movie fan and havent seen this, rent it.

a short to the point review
