I refuse to understand how ignorant you must be... you realize how large MMOs are? Gotta pay for server upkeep (these are freaking huge/expensive servers) and you have to pay for staff to keep updating the game with NEW things...
EDIT: Sorry if I came off as a jerk... didn't mean to if I did :\.

That is why they suck assss. I agree with monos. My friend played that waste of a game called everquest for like 3 years I watched him play every once in a while he would sit there for and hour before all the ppl would show up for a gay ass raid. then he was like the highest level wizard you could and i was like kill that wimpy frog right there and he couldnt do it and said he would take like 12 guys to kill a frog. HOw is that fun. those games suck.

To you... but your opinion doesn't really matter. He was simply asking who all played the game... and then the only replies were "OMGZ MUNPHLY FEEZE SUX MAH NUTZORZ"... he didn't ask your opinion on monthly fees... he wanted to know who was playing it.
And not to burst your bubble... but uhmmm... MMOs are pretty darn popular.

Salem does have a point. I am sure the topic starter did not want to hear a debate about monthly fees. He obviously wanted to find out who played WOW, and have a worthwhile discussion about the game, which I am afraid we have destroyed any hope of.

Look at it this way, WoW has what? 500,000 players? At 15 a month thats a good 7,500,000 a month. I highly doubt that the servers and all that crap costs that much. Hell they have made at least 25,000,000 off sales of just the box.
Aside from the costs, I used to play WoW if that counts. But realized it just wasn't worth it anymore. There was nothing to do at level 60, PvP sucked, raids were boring after the 10th time and pointless since your just trying to get better gear to raid the next dungeon to get better gear for the next and so on. Also, I realized I could have just as much fun playing CS or WC3. Thus I sold my account and used the money for my PSP.

Well i never actually claimed to be an expert on MMO's salem, that appears to be your area of expertise.
i was merely stating my opinion i made no statements concerning the games themselves only that it does not fit for me to buy a game and in order to play that game i then have to pay a monthly fee.

So those that think im an idiot for paying monthly to play a game that i have enjoyed thus far heres to you :upyours: Also if i remember some of the good ppl that play on WIH donate money to help keep this place alive. Are they just as idiotic?

MMO's can suck mah nutzorz....all they are is a waste of time designed so that you are forced to do mindless extremely time consuming things in order to obtain rewards that are highly not worth the time. I was a big ragnarok online player way back when and i will never ever play another MMO again....took me forever and then some to get to my second job class...and that whole forever amount of time playing cost me money

Not a true MMO... basically Diablo 2 with pretty graphics.
The class variation (as far as looks goes) is terrible and max level is 20... which can be gotten pretty quickly.

"Not a true MMO" and yet at the same time it is. You have to connect to their servers which store your characters data to play and your playing with other people all over the world. While its nothing like EQ or WoW or anything like that, it is still a MMO. Just because it doesn't follow the cookie cutter MMO settings doesn't make it any less of a MMO.

No, its permanent or at least for release. The initial release will have a limit of level 20 and I think the reasoning for it was so you can level up a couple characters to 20 and choose which one you want to use for each battle in the Guild vs Guild and Player vs. Player battles and such. Might be for some other reason...probably is. All I know is that they will probably raise the level cap in future chapters/expansions (which I believe they said would be free).

Oh, I was mistaken. I do know that the expansion aren't going to be free though, that's how they plan to support the game without a monthly fee.
