EDIT: get ready to feast ur eyes on a lot of maps

Hey guys.. since theres talk about maybe adding a custom map or 2, I thought I'd open up this thread to showcase some possibilities.
Now I'm talkin really good-looking well planned out maps.. not crap like iceworld.

EDIT: Owners... many of these maps look extremely top-notch, so could u plz at least consider some of them. Any one of these maps look better than any of the ones that were previously on the custom map server.

Another EDIT: BTW I'll be playing/testing these maps based on the feedback I get. That way I only play the best ones to see if they're actually worth it, gameplay-wise.

Here's an incredible looking map by the creator of courthouse, cs_xcom. If ANYTHING, this map should be put into rotation (based on looks, I need to play test it yet):

OMFG guys... check this baby out! This is the best custom map I've ever seen. He's got a website for it and everything.. indicating how professionally done it is.

Honestly owners.. I'll donate like 30 bucks if i can have some of these maps in an FF-on server : P

This is a cool looking map set in a city where the CTs need to infiltrate a bank which has been robbed to capture hosties. It appears as though one route is through an exploded wall from the subway.. very cool. Check it out!

(supposedly it plays very well too)

This map is set in a train station... the screenshots look very dark (might be the person's monitor setting who took them) but u can tell that there is a lot of detail in the map:

looks like most of these will lag my machine....have you tried playing any of the maps to test their playability and see how even they are to either side?

This next map might prove a welcome change from the normal cs and de maps.. would be cool to have it for like 5 minutes in the map rotation:

Didn't read my first post, did u prowl : P

Anyways, it seems to me that these maps would play just as smooth (in terms of FPS) compared to the official maps.

As for playing them... I haven't played any yet. I'm waiting to see which ones u guys like, then I'll proceed to check em out.

Ok... I just gotta say rooftops sucks... back when we had the custom map server going I recommended it... it has a max player limit of like 6 and it is just too small to get a decent game going.

I'd a recommend cs_Reflex3 for a "5 Min" map. xcom looks amazing.. I'm d/l now.

I just tested (by myself) cs_xcom and de_lochs2. Both are amazing looking maps that are very well balanced with more than 3 routes to each objective.

They both run just as fast (FPS), if not faster than the official maps too.

To sum it up.. these 2 maps own :rockon:

I also played deadtown.. which runs like crap and doesnt even look that good. It's been eliminated from the list.

EDIT: Checked out cs_headquaters and cs_Beirut.

Headquarters blows.. that's all there is to it. Eliminated.

Beirut is great. A very worthy replacement for Dust :P ;)
It's clean, crisp, balanced... the routes are well defined and it's got a great sniping tower for u chronic snipers.
Overall, great map.

BTW I've been goin back and editing my map posts to give them :thumbsup: ratings out of 5.

Tried Siege and cs_withdrawl.

Siege had some major errors/glitches/problems and it basically looked like ass. Eliminated.

cs_withdrawl is a strange map.. mainly because it doesnt have an objective. It's a simple 'kill the enemy' map and I think it works out well that way.
I took off points because it has a slight FPS drop in the city area and the map itself might be a little small.

Played de_industrial, de_newport and cs_area35 (barn map).

Industrial, although pretty well done, is tiny, only has 1 bomb site, and runs awful. Eliminated.

Newport has great graphics by the swimming pool, but everywhere else is rather ugly (except for a cool little villa in the distance). It's also WAY too small for this server. Eliminated.

Area35 is awesome. The layout is similar to militia ;). Overall the graphics of the map aren't that impressive, but the fact that the gameplay is reminicent of milita makes it stand out. There are tons of elevated spots at the barn and plenty of fluctuating elevations in the terrain around it.
Very cool map IMO.

I'm liking that de_lochs and backalley. I loved backalley in 1.6, so I wouldn't mind having a counterpart. I should get to work on my Area51 map! The terrorists can bomb a UFO in the hangar!

I thought more people wanted some custom maps as indicated by a bunch of posts on this forum... guess I wasted a whole day trying to find some worthy ones.

Actually yeah, I've been looking for people to collaborate with it before I full-fledged get it off the ground.

Don't be discouraged Sniper, I read all of your posts and the two I like were lochs and backalley. I played some of those you mentioned and they weren't very admirable in my opinion. Your work is appreciated on my end.
