1.4 Beta testing

is done according to our server provider. They're currently waiting for a release date from EA.

No word on whether if they fix server stability and/or eliminated the hacks that cause server crashes.

My feeling is that they didn't. The Beta is for the public to be guinea pigs to test out the new map and the new infantry mode. At this point, they (EA) really doesn't care all that much about BF2. They're focused on BF2142.

And as soon as 2142 comes out i give it 30 days there be hacks out 4 it.. there never going to be able to stop all of it.... at least stop the server crash

exactly. We can deal and catch the hackers. Just fix it so that the server doesn't crash when hackers are on.

if faced with such a prospect, i am sure some mod team will over come the crap EA left them with and will spread the fix through the modding community.

There's no reason why we'd want to stay at 1.3 once 1.4 has been released. As a matter of fact, we don't have a choice of staying at 1.3. Our provider will upgrade all his servers to latest patch.

Then give it 30 more days and they'll stop supporting it in favor of BF3142

So I understand correctly, the presence of somebody with downloaded skill is enough to crash the server. They're not actually doing anything that causes the crash ? :icon_confused:

they do things to make the server crash... it would be nice if what they did didnt make the server crash and ruin everyones gameplay, but EA doesnt think like that so they probably wont fix it...

There is one good thing about EA being focused on BF2142, since it (from what I understand) uses the same engine as BF2, any improvements they make to the engine should hopefully filter down to BF2 as well.
