i saw the faces post and has spurned me to post this.

a new WWII RTS is getting ready to be released in september called company of heroes.

total 3 dimensional everything

total deformable everything, every single thing is deformable, burnable, blowupable, whatever youwant to do to it.

excellent new physics engine that allows building and objects to react very realistically to the battle stimulus.

the ability to save games and watch them from any angle.

the ability to pan 360 and zoom in and out combined with the excellent graphics allows you to watch over the battlefield or zoom in on one tank or character and get an excellent show. graphics are great.

no demo right now, but for subscribers to fileplanet, there is a multiplay beta available. wow, it looks beautiful and plays awesomely. i cant gush enough.

here is their main website, if you go to the gallery and then download the hi-res 10 min. movie on the left, youwill not be dissapointed. it might be the best machinama ive seen. its awesome in any case. i highly recommend for good battle action.

Next months PC gamer will have a demo supposably.

I'm not looking forward to how sluggish this game is going to play on my 9800pro.

yeah, you will have to turn down some settings. redish is/was playing the beta also. i think he has 97 or 9800 pro and he had to crank down.

im running invidia 7800gt oc with 2 gig ram and i can play with all cranked up at 1076 x 768 x32. i can tell that im pushing it, when artillery strikes there is a slight 1/2 second hiccup before the explosion and i do see slight chop at the peak of large battles. not enough to matter or make me want to dumb it down.

redish said it still looked good. maybe he will see this and post his impressions.

and yup, a little rts is a nice change of pace from fps all day every day. would be nice to have a group here playing coh. the multiplay is 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4.

I am running a 9700 Pro and had to turn some things down, but the graphics are still pretty spectacular. This beta has higher requirements than the game will, or so they say.

Even with it turned down the detail is awesome. You can actually see what the soldiers are carrying, be it K98s, MP40s, Panzerschrek, or whatnot.

Just a few frustrating things in th beta they need to work out ...

fyi, they have released an updated beta version with fixes. if youve ever thought about getting subscription to fileplanet and like rts games, now is the time to purchase. i think you can get a subscription for 3.33/month.

fileplanet carries all of the patches and mods for most games. i originally got it so i could get reliable, immediate, fast bf downloads.

as you can tell, am still excited about this game.

The latest PC Gamer includes the demo, I just tried it out, and I must say I was pretty impressed. I kind of liked the damage system in "Heroes soldiers of ww2" better becuase in that game, I could actually target the individual parts of a gevin vehicle, such as the wheels or tracks.

The graphics are stunning, and the seamless transition between cutscene and gameplay was really impressive, I though the cutscenes were extremely well done, but could have benefited from some more detailed characters.

I havn't played the airborn mission yet, just the D-Day one, but I must say from that mission alone, this game looks like a winner.
