What's the deal with the squares?

I was just playing, and there was a square guy, who I';ve always assumed had incompatible font keyboard. He wasn't stomping everyone, only about break even. BUt the call came out, in English I might add, that he fix the squares thing immediatly or be banned.

Shortly after he was removed.

I'm a nube, and may not understand all the ins and outs of how this thing works. Could someone please tell me why squares instead of English are such a big deal?

If I was in China (or elsewhere) I would be really pissed.

What gives? Is it a cheat avenue or what?

I was there when The guy got banned, I even warned him over the mic to change it, but I really don't think his name was squares on his machine and thus did not respond.

I use to have all weird symbols..*wonders if the admins were plotting to ban poor phenix* :shock: :rdo:

It wasnt a keybord that dosnt show up in english or anything like that. It is ascii code and anyone can have a name with crazy symbols if you know how. I make people on my server use letters instead of symbols because if you need to do a client command on them then you have t know the ascii code or have it on a piece of paper to know how to type there name. He knew perfectly well what monos said and he didnt pay any attention to it. Monos gave him plenty of warning and he didnt do it. I have even seen one time when a guy waqs using a hack and it made his name all funny as a side effect. That is why I dont let them on my server and why I asumed Monos kicked him. GJ Monos.

That's cool. I was misunderconfused about what the squares meant.

I kinda figured that it had something to do with hacking. I also thought if I was a foreign guy, a real foreign guy that speaks no English and had a funky keyboard, not a Canadian, and was playing the game, hearing jibberjabber, not understanding it, Killing on having fun, and suddenly be kicked for no reason apparent to me, would be disconcerting to say the least.

And my post from this mornign? I didn't think abouit that one long enough. No bad intentions, Just image searches for foreign kids and they popped up.

Could have as easily been someone with a ruby in their forehead or wooden shoes.
