Does anyone else have an nVidia 5700FX card? If so, what kind of CS tweaks are you using. During most maps my fps is in the red and I haven't been able to find a setting that will increase my fps. :D
And don't say get an xxxx or yyyy card :x It's not an option at the moment.

I'm just going to ignore that one.
I double checked my card... turns out I was wrong about the model number. It's actually a 5200 FX. :(

I would say head over to nvnews.net and go to the forum and check the Source engine part of the board... you could register and ask people what they like and stuff... that is a very good site for nvidia owners (and they won't kill you for having an ATI card... although I will ;)). Very nice group of people there (I am Mr. Hunt there btw).

mat_dxlevel 70
The game will run like complete crap on an FX5200 on anything higher.
If you do mat_dxlevel 70, you can then max out the normal graphics options and even up the resolution and the game still looks awesome and plays well.
I speak from experience as I used to run Source on that same card.

Ideally I'd like to spend about $0, but since that's not likely to happen I'll probably not be getting a new vid card for a little while. :)
However, I think that setting Khard posted is helping me out quite a bit. But maybe, just maybe I may still try sneaking a new vid card after the holidays.
I heard this helps too.
I found it on a tweaks page.

BIG help! This removes the smaller junk items that choke your cpu for processing. Items like tires, barrels, crates, and all the important stuff stay. Huge fps improvement. Less clutter.
